>> Sunday, February 14, 2010
With Kobe Bryant out for the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, the biggest star from the West will be Kevin Durant. He has already received many comparisons to LeBron James of the East. In only his third season, many pick Durant over Carmelo Anthony, another dominant forward. He possesses a unique talent for a man that stands at 6'10. There is a wide-open chance for Kevin Durant to solidify himself later on tonight.
As previously stated, Kobe Bryant is out for tonight's game. The room is expected to be filled with over 90,000 people at the largest sports arena, Cowboys' Stadium. Had Bryant been in the game, he would have been the focal point of all of the Western All-Stars. But, now that he is out, along with Brandon Roy, all of the attention when speaking of the West points towards Kevin Durant.
Durant is a very similar position to LeBron James in 2006 and if history continues to repeat itself, Kevin Durant will have a big game tonight in Dallas. Kevin Durant has a chip on his shoulder. As great as he has been, he has yet to play in one playoff game. Making the playoffs is a team effort, but making the All-Star Game is a personal effort. He has yet to play for a playoff-caliber team, but the next best thing is the All-Star Game. With all of the other stars out, Kevin Durant will be given a chance to prove himself.
All eyes will be on the matchup between Kevin Durant and LeBron James. Tonight, both players will be bringing their A-game. Kevin Durant will definitely show the East what he has got.
