Allen Iverson is done for the Season
>> Wednesday, March 3, 2010
The oddest season in Allen Iverson's career has come to a premature end. Yesterday, Iverson announced that he would leave the season early. He is the point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, but he is no longer the focal point of the team. Even if he was, they are not in playoff contention, so he would not be missing out on much. Because his young daughter is suffering from an illness, Iverson has decided to sit out.
Allen Iverson has not played in a game since February 20, but there was a chance that he would return. Had his daughter's health began to improve, Iverson would have resumed playing. However, things have not worked out that way and his four-year-old daughter has gotten worse. Her medical status has led to Iverson taking an indefinite leave of absense, but with no signs of improvement, Iverson will have to miss the season.
As previously stated, the Sixers are too far out of the playoff race to be a serious threat, anyway, so it really does not matter if Allen Iverson sits for the remainder of the season. After all, there is only one month left before the season is over and Iverson is only a role player for a team now built around Andre Iguodala.
